The 200 spaces available daily for the Inca Trail are often booked quickly, so it’s advisable to secure your place at least 6 months ahead, or even more. However, for the 2-day Inca Trail, bookings can be made with just two or three days in advance, and in some cases, even the same day.

Is the Inca Trail open all year round?

Both versions of the Inca Trail, the 4-day and the 2-day, are open every day of the year except in February. During this month, the rainiest of the year, maintenance work is carried out on the route.

What is the high season in Cusco, and why is it more challenging to find availability?

The high season in Cusco runs from May to September, during which the city receives more tourists. During these months, more visitors seek to do the Inca Trail, so it’s necessary to book 6 or 7 months in advance to find availability.

Is it possible to find availability for the Inca Trail once I'm in Cusco?

You cannot buy the 4-day Inca Trail in Cusco, but the 2-day Inca Trail can be booked once you are in the city, even with just a few days’ notice.

Can the booking for the Inca Trail be done online only?

Yes, due to high demand, the 4-day Inca Trail can only be booked online. The 2-day version, however, can be purchased in person.

What kind of permits or documents do I need to book the Inca Trail?
