Trip Description
The 2-day Colorful Mountain tour is a hike in which you visit local communities to have an up-close experience and contact with the Quechua culture that is still maintained. During the tour, you can observe herds of llamas, alpacas, huanacos and sheep, as well as a diversity of wildlife. When you reach the mountain, you can appreciate the impressive variety of natural colors it offers, which would make the experience unforgettable.

Day 01: Cusco – Quesiuno – Hampatuyoc Rumi – Campamento Pampa
We start early in Cusco, where you will be picked up at 5:00 am for a 4-hour ride in a private van that will take you to the trailhead. Along the way, you will stop in the village of Checcacupe to see an ancient Inca/Colonial bridge. After arriving at Qesiuno, which is located at an altitude of 4,326 masl (14,189 ft), you will begin a 1-hour hike to the lunch area at Hampatuyoc. After walking uphill for approximately three and a half hours, you will arrive at Pampa Camp, which is located at 4,885 masl (16,026 ft). In the afternoon, you can enjoy tea and popcorn while admiring a glacial peak and the Rainbow mountain range.

Day 02: Upis Arapa Pass — Pucacocha – Colorful mountain
After enjoying a delicious breakfast, we will prepare to start our hike and leave the camp. Our route will take us over the Arapa Pass, which is located at an altitude of 4,850 m / 15,908 ft. From here, we will be able to appreciate the wonderful view of the contrast between the dry desert and the snow-capped hills of Mount Ausangate and Pucacocha. This area also has three beautiful lakes, Pucacocha, Hatun Pucacocha and Qomercocha, each with shades of red, green and turquoise. At the end of our trek, we will arrive at the second camp, which is located near the Ausangate glacier.
